Sketchbook: Anderson Cascardi Pinheiro

Hi everyone! i'd like to share with you guys my latest work! It's a 3d model of the German bodybuilder Ronnie Rockel. I used Zbrush to make the model out of a sphere (God bless Dynamesh!) along with all the process until the final render (retopology, UV Mapping, polypaint, posing, lighting and BPR render passes). I used photoshop just to compose the final image. All kinds of critiques, opinions and suggestions are always welcome!! Enjoy! :poly142:

Hey everyone! here is something I've done as an exercise for an on-line 3D modeling course. Hope you enjoy!

Hey, neat stuff here! Fig that body builder model. Something feels of with the structure of the rib cage though. I looked up the body builder cause at first glance I thought the abs where way too large. He has quite large abs in fact and I think they look too big on your model because his cage needs more volume on the sides. Right now the lats make up most of the width end the transition to the seratus anterior is a bit strange.
Do I make any sense? Anatomy is sure hard to describe. :P

Thanks for the comment AimBiZ! and I agree with you. There are some things around his body that need improvement. The abs really could be narrower... I plan to get back to this model soon to make a better render with skin shaders and different face expressions. (this image is a BPR render from Zbrush) I'll keep you tips in mind when I get back to it!

    Thanks again! :)

Hey hey, that's really cool modelling-wise!

Not very fond of the presentation though. If you like, here's my critique.
The different elements (flesh, armor, bones etc.) doesn't feel entirely tied together, thinking of the metal stuff in particular. Due to how clean it is it doesn't feel like it's been used by the character. Some rust or patina would suit it perfectly along with some darkening in the crevices (occlusion bake perhaps) would bring the details forward. Giving it a bit of reddish tint/discoloration would tie it together with the demon more, although if you want it to contrast in terms of material and color, some greenish oxidization would do the trick. Doesn't need to be heavy but even a little would go a long way I think.

The pedestal is way too lores. The rocks are too smooth which breaks the illusion and contrasts badly with the very refine supernice demon. Play around with displacement maps or at least make a nice and crisp normal map for it. They need to bee rougher and more detailed basically.
Same goes for the wooden base.

Adding a simple background would add a bit as well.

Additionally, strewing around some tiny rocks and gravel around the big rocks would help make a transition between them and the ground.

Overall it's a very cool creature, you just need to go the extra mile to make it really super.
