New to polycount - Looking for feedback

Hello, I am a fairly recent graduate and trying to hone my skills and advance to a higher level of 3D art. Please provide any feedback you can think of for this piece and any references to tutorials or anywhere that helped you along the way. This is my first post anywhere, I appreciate the feedback greatly.

    hi beguiler,

I'm also a student myself and new to polycount so my comments are probably weak, but I'll throw them in anyway.

The eyeball veins need to have a falloff, it looks like you used a single brush that doesn't change diameter and it suddenly just decided to stop. You could also use a specular map, everything looks a little dry and not too gross. Use lots and lots of reference is one of the best suggestions I got. The eyeaball isn't completely round, and the iris is concave. We had a glossy transparent film wrap over the eyeball when we did our faces in class. Kind of like this guide:

    Hope that helps.
