So Blacklight Retribution is free on steam, and is tons of fun. I've been playing with some polycounters and having a blast.
It may be a free to play game with a cash shop and such, but it's still fun and fairly balanced without putting down moneys.

Been playing it a bit, its very confusing in the beginning, but kinda got most of it figured out. Really like the customization part, seeing the parts you can put on it and view the weapons and such closeup. And most improvements also have a downside.

Gah, ran into my first hacker/aimbot in the game today, and before you say it, no he wasn't just good, the guy had 70 kills vs 20 as the highest, plus didn't even know how to cap a flag. :P

Yeah, Hackers already started pinning the game. One guys shot me and two peeps next to me near a Depot, behind a wall, before he picked up a Suit.

I'm going to play the game abit more, but I honestly don't think I'm going to stick with it long enough since it's really getting ridiculous in some maps.

Yeah, there was some issue yesterday with join using Quick Join, I managed to get on to a server by choosing it directly. Also, some cunt kid was spamming the chat, Sky-something, for ages. I don't care who or how young they are, I would beat the shit out of that little arsehole.

Played some matches, level 5 now. It's pretty damn fun. I'm going to re-visit the combat rifle again now that I'm a little better and have the parts to assemble my own.

@ McGreed: I switch chat to "whisper" asap. It's not enough to just not look at it, it's very existance bugs me.

hm, you thought Brink was that bad? I had a good time with it, unfortunately there are barely servers available anymore, as far as I know.

Concerning Blacklight, I might give this one a try too. Looks very promising =]

i should clarify. I loved brink, still play alone sometimes just to build a new character, blacklight just feels like the kind of game brink was aiming for (minus the awesomeness of S.M.A.R.T), but the community is there in this case

Not much of a fan of twitchy FPS deathmatch stuff, but I quite like the style and music of this game. Cool UI. But trying to play yesterday was a nightmare. Constant LAG spikes made it almost unplayable. Strangely my latency was nowhere near as bad as others. Anyone else getting this?

Its really fun, those big mechs are a pain to take out. I got the mech from the armory station, and tried using that gun to spawn one but it doesn't seem to spawn? I hold onto it idk how to work this thing!

Make sure there's no obstruction such as roofs or any player walking around, The hardsuit will fall down from the sky.

To counter the enemy hardsuit you can buy a flamethrower to toast the pilot then steal the hardsuit GTA style :poly121:.

The only thing I feel kinda breaks the game, is the special vision you get, because you can see where everyone is, while its active, makes it impossible to sneak around.

Not necessarily, the HRV is good to get an idea of where people are, but it's very slow and limited. By the time you put it on and off everyone has moved a good distance and if they are anywhere near you, you probably got shot while it was up. :P Of course that's just my view of it.

actually i've yet to use the HRV just because of how fast paced the rounds are. When i first watched the introduction videos i thought it would be really lame but i've yet to find any instance where it seems like someone is gaining any kind of advantage by using it

I don't know neither how to get them to spawn, seems like they come down from the sky so you maybe need to be outdoors?

Also apparently you can use HRV to identify the weak points in a mech, where the best to shot it. I usually dodge and shot all the time, when trying to get one down, unless I'm near an supply store, then I get the stinger. Never used the flamethrower, requires me to get close to the darn thing.
And I just discovered that I got an injector thing, just need to figure out how to use it though.

I find the flamethrower is easier since you can sneak up from behind. But with stinger you need more then one shot and after the first one then the hardsuit will most likely don't let you near it again.

@Mcgreed Ah that thing rocks, mine just expired press C to bring it up, it looks and works just like a grenade but you can only toss it a short distance. Throw it on a body, but only if they have a blue indicator with a countdown over them.

Played a game so far, Quite like it, guessing it will be more fun once i get a bit more used to it. Gameplay wise it feels pretty solid.

HRV (the wallhack eyes) should be your constant companion. The game is just too fast, too vertical, and too map-control based to get by without it. If you aren't using it every chance you get, start! The guy on the top of the other team's leaderboard is, and he's already chosen whether to sneak up on you or not.

This game is awesome! Finally found a couple of guns I like. I thought I would struggle for GP but that clearly isn't the case any more. Does anyone actually use the hard suits? I tried a couple of times and didn't like them. I can see how they would be useful for domination I guess but yeah not a fan of them.

Yeah, I used the hard suits, they are pretty good for supporting other players, not so great to go alone, because people can easy strafe around you, and you turn slowly. But they can take down the other team very fast.

We had DM game and at one point we were 3 hard suits and just shredded the other team apart, won with 70:20 .

Haven't got a new gun yet, I want to save up to unlock it permantly, but don't know what to get. However I'm doing pretty good with the standard gun.

Btw, I haven't been able to find anyone using the search, I was wondering if it might be because people is playing on the US server.

You can unlock them perm. But it cost loads, sooo much its mad. Just a simple low helmet cost 7750 GP to unlock. :P

Here's a trick to pilot the hardsuit: After pressing the boost key (shift), press the left ctrl to use the brake, this will remove the hardsuit's booster delay. The trick is useful to maneuver around corridors and areas with many obstacles.

Scudz - I wouldn't bother with the starter pack, after a few matches you can upgrade to a nicer gun anyway! The xp boost would be useful though!
