Changing the way bones are displayed in 3DS Max?

Background: I've used some fanmade tools to convert a character from Street Fighter 4 to SMD, then used Cannonfodder's* SMD importer to get the model plus its rig into Max 2012. The plan is to cull the number of bones to 128, do the face morphing and then put the character to work in Source Film Maker.

Problem: STARFISH OF DOOM

Beneath that pile of bones is my model.

In Blender, the bones are displayed as points (and hence nice and easy to click on, manipulate etc) but in Max, they're these monstrously huge blobs! I'd rather not use Blender to try and do what I want to do - the documentation for making a character for use in Source is already non-existent, I'd rather not have to learn Blender on top of that!

I want to know if there's a way in Max to fix this and make the model usable.

*I'm using Cannonfodder's to do this as I ran into worse issues using Wonderboy's - imagine the same problem, but with the bones being moved to have no correlation to where they manipulated the model!

EDIT: Okay, I selected all the bones at once then used Bone Tools to make every single one have almost no width and height - but their length is still off.
