Hey!
Lately I have been playing around with terrain generation in various applications. I never really took the step from generated terrain to realtime 3D terrain - but with the new landscape feature in UDK I wanted to see what I could put together. This is not a gameplay scene and I did not work under any texture or polygon limitations. Everything is created by me including terrain, textures, particles, lighting and the sky.
I used World Machine to generate the terrain which I then exported as a height and color map. I used the height map to create the landscape in UDK. The landscape use two different types of materials, snow and rock, and the exported color map is overlayed on top of the snow and rock materials to break up repeativeness.

and to be honest I've been inspired by this since the first time I saw it I've always wanted to make landscapes like this, especially the snowy mountain ranges.
I started my own UDK project, its been several months since I've been learning it and finally started a landscape, it's almost finished!
Thanks for the inspiration! love it
I looked at your portfolio and saw the other snow images with the tower..... dam thats sweet, very nice job!
