I've been fooling around with playmaker for a while off and on and I've found it very easy to use. You can get a pretty good idea of its features by watching the tutorials on their youtube account, if you haven't already. http://www.youtube.com/user/hutonggamesllc?feature=results_main

I use it at work. I would definitely recommend it. Its pretty easy to get a grip on and fairly user friendly.

My team is really small, and we have very few programmers, so its been essential here.

At 50 percent off I'll probably buy myself a personal copy of it.

Yup, picked up a copy for myself Haven't dug to far into it, started watching the tutorials (which are awesome) but I needed to get a refresher course in Unity, so watching tuts for that right now.

Very excited though :P

I use it, really happy with it too. Very flexible tool. It lets artists that understand the game logic but can't script/code go ahead and build working gameplay.

It's totally worth it. It's on sale during Unite 2012 also and likely the last sale this year so if you're thinking about getting it you may want to jump on it.

What does it do I can't program myself? What're the benefits?

If you can code yourself then its not as useful, but you can definitely still make use of it. It's great for AI since it basically creates State Machines with actions inside of them, you can use the heaps of actions that come with it and also create your own actions to drop into the UI pretty easily. From what I understand you can use the Get Property action to get any variable from anything anywhere in the scene and apply it in the FSM, which is really cool but I haven't used some of the other programmer type applications it has.

Personally I use it because I can't program so I can't really relate to your situation but it's really flexible, easy and stupid fast to prototype something. I basically can't even script making a box look at something and move by player input and I threw together the exact character control system I wanted in about 45 minutes of importing PM for the first time, another couple of hours and I was wondering why I didnt buy it a year ago. Debugging is nice too since you can click any object and watch what highlighted state and action its running through while the game is going.
