Blender TF2 modeling help

Hello, I've probably made so many useless threads, but now this one will be the one I keep up! I've been trying to make a stake in blender to submit to the TF2 workshop for a item set that I've been working on. I need to know a couple things: should I use a tablet (if so whats a cheap tablet?) or a mouse for small edits to the model. Also, how do you flatten out the texture so my friend can add the texture to it?

Personally I like to use a tablet to model, but most people prefer a mouse. But no tablet is not a necessity. As for cheap tablets, I'd suggest looking into a wacom bamboo.

As for flattening the model and prepare it for texturing, you might wanna do a google search for "blender uv unwrapping tutorials". I personally don't use blender so I don't know any good ones.

The stake itself doesn't really read as stake at all. It also doesn't match the TF2 style at all.

    Even a prop needs a personality/story/character.
