Hi polycounters !
I've already seen some threads about what music do peoples likes , but none on what they actualy listen while working.
Some songs are awsome but simply too brutal / speed if you want to stay calm all the day, so let's speak about some good stuff
I would begin with that :
Nobuo Uematsu - FF7 musics
Death note anime songs
Danny Elfman
What about you ?

Usually some rock radio stations.

Sometimes games OST. From Deus Ex HR, to Red Dead, or Journey... too many on my playlist really.
Lately i just listen to some Bossa Nova.
Dubstep really (shame) but keeps my head beating and time just feels like nothing
Gives a mix of ambient/electronic/psy stuff...
When I do listen to music I usually turn on one of these stations on last.fm:
http://www.last.fm/tag/apocalyptic%20folk
http://www.last.fm/tag/hauntology
http://www.last.fm/tag/witch%20house
Or some experimental Jazz:

Mirror Queen
Weedeater

Superjoint Ritual
So...definitely not 'calm.'
I use Notemare to listen to music at work, typically. It's a super simple widget that pulls from grooveshark. Throw in an artist and listen.

Stiff Little Fingers
Frank Black
Karate
Justice
The Octopus Project
Bluejuice
De La Soul
The Coup
Notorious MSG

I'm a big fucking nerd so I listen to this podcast at work. They play 8-bit and 16-bit songs, every episode is themed. Pretty rad and interesting and I get to hear great songs from games I never knew existed.

Wretch 32 - Don't Go (please stay).
Linkin Park - What I've done + Breaking the habit.
Healthy does of Rise against.
Bastion - Setting sail (Coming Home)
Comptine d'Un Autr Ete- Die fabelhafte (Piano Beautiful)
I'm not that overly fussy, as long as i can sync work with the beat/bass/rhythm i'm happy.
^^This. But it also depends on the mood Im in. Lots of DnB, Ambient, Baroque, Post Rock, Minimal, Shoegaze, Vocal Smooth Jazz, etc.

I try to keep it short-ish, with songs that just make me happy and have a good beat. I'll turn this on when I really need to concentrate and get something done. It's ridiculously eclectic, some of the artists in there:
Skrillex
The Proclaimers
Firewater
Spacehog
Maroon 5
Cowboy Mouth
Mika
Motorhead
Groove Armada
Fair To Midland
Awolnation
Italio Brothers
Johnny Cash
