Sketchbook : VioletCity

Hi everyone, I am a student of game design with focus on character modeling, i will be posting up 2d and 3d work in hopes of learning what I need to work on from those kind enough to share their wisdom! Critique is welcomed and appreciated, I hope to learn as much as I can this way.

I decided to post up the piece I was working on for last semesters texture and design class which just ended, this is my first time trying to texture, and second time trying to model a figure.I included also the concept artwork i made prior to my attempt.

Still learning to paint digital art, I have done a handful before this one. Any critique welcome.

I struggled with uv unwrapping and learned just how important it is to get that part right before trying to texture.

This is just basic texture map with no bump or spec added.

Hello violetcity, nice work, I just have one thing that bugs me but I might be wrong because I'm really not a specialist or anything, but its her pose, I thinck her upper body is bent in a weird way it might hurt her back, I might be really wrong but this is how I would imagine her standing pose:

Like I said I'm no specialist so I'd wait for better comments.
And an other little thing to finish, I'd bend the arms slightly to help for possible future IK rigging and make it look a bit less stiff but not sure either, it's just personal opinion. Good luck :)

Hi Yedp! Thank you for taking the time to draw the correction, i really apprciate that, I see your point, it also looks a lot more balanced with the correction you made, i think i was focusing too much on making a nice arc in the back than paying attention to the natural balance of the body.

Also i felt her body looked very stiff and unatural but was not sure how to correct the problem, she did not seem to "stand heavy" in her pose like a realistic body would, perhaps if i try to fix the torso the way you suggested it will work to look like a natural standing human being with weighted body.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I will go into maya and see what i can do in the next few days.
