Baking high poly ao on a low poly model

Hey guys, is there a way to bake a high poly ao onto a low poly uvw map from x normal?
I sware i have seen it done before but i cant remember where?

put high poly in high poly slot, put low poly and low poly slot and bake.
it always bakes information between high poly to lowpoly, olny time it would be bakeing lowpoly AO to the lowpoly is if you had the LP in both slots.

Thats exactly what i thought but the ao looks exactly like the low poly ao that i have already done

Why you don't use baking tool from your 3d modeling software? I think that baking in 3ds max (mental ray) right in scene, without import\export to xNormal is more fast and easy.
