Doctor Robotnik Fleetway Version (WIP)

I just recently started 3D modeling. 3DSmax was a bit too complicated for me, so I went with Zbrush. I thought Doctor Robotnik would be a fun first project, with his funky shape and whatnot. Here's the head I've managed to create:

However, I hit a snag when I moved to make the body.

I have no idea how to make his weird suspender/belt thing accurately, as shown here:

I tried using the Clay Tubes brush, but it's too shaky and inaccurate for a good result.

Anyone willing to help a 3D modeler novice?

My advice is: Go back to Max, and learn how to model properly there. Learn to model economicaly, learn about edge loops and all this tech stuff. 3D is a great thing, but you can't avoid its technical side, with the softwares we have currently.

There's a plenty of tutorials on web (many of them in Youtube) that can help you a lot. Good luck, kid.

Yea defiantly this. 3D sucks at first, you see all this cool stuff on polycount, and you struggle with the basics. It just takes time and practice to understand and figure out. You might want to try Maya or Modo if you did not like Max, personally I find them to be a little bit easier to understand for modeling purposes, but that is just me. Also getting a good intro book for whatever 3D program you pick helps out a lot to learn what all the tools do.

Allright, I'll probably try Maya. Thanks!
