Decompile C_Models for tf2 help needed

I'll lay down a few things first. I use Blender 2.58 and have modeled for tf2 hats. I have never modeled for a weapon in tf2 before.

I have my model made for the TF2 workshop, texture and all, I now need is a c_model base to attach the gun to the correct bone. The problem being that my studiocompiler program crashes every time I try to decompile the .mdl file of choice.

Does anyone here know how/what I should do? Thanks ahead of time for the help!

(I have considered downgrading to blender 2.49 but not sure if it will ruin my model)
