Low poly Lion

Hi Guys,

This is my first attempt at a quadraped. still fairly new to modelling, so please comment on the below pics.

it seems to read well from the rear and the side. But the front image doesnt really look like alion. think its the face area. any paint overs of muscles etc would be great. i want to animate this after so if you think edge flow is total pants let me know

Oh nice! Good topology! Nothing seems to be wasted!

His face looks like he ran into a brick wall though XD. The front of the muzzle seems really flat and nearly like a pig snout in the side on. but other then that, it's great

yeah totally agree, the snout is driving me a little nuts. thought the same thing about it looking more like a pig. cross breed its a Pig-ion.

ill keep trying to work on that and post up any more pics i do.

Your anatomy is pretty out of whack, particularly the head. I'd lose the mane while you're trying to get the proportions down and then add it back in with planes later.

Lion anatomical drawings are pretty easy to come by. Here's a couple to get you started.

The Refs defo made a difference. What do people think it would animate like? ie leg movement? i know theres still a lot of work, but im happier with the face now.

still coming along, dont think there will be much more to do. as i want to keep it cartoony like the penguin.

Any texture recommendations. quite hard trying to keep it cartoony and make it look like a lion.

the hind legs look weird.

I think the feet might be a little flat, as in, they seem to bulge out the back a bit much.
