best way to find out about contests

I often find myself dipping in and out of sites like Polycount/GameArtisans sometimes months at a time. Yet I wish somehow I could be alerted when new contests were starting as I usually look for them and if there are any I like it's too late in the game to join. Is the only solution really just to keep searching all these sites every few days?

Are you one of those super-pro guys that don't become a part of any online community and just join when that community is having a contest that you can win? If so, I'd recommend not doing that.
If not, then what I would do is bookmark all your forums so they are easily accessible. I use Firefox, so I can drag and drop links to a bookmarks toolbar for easy access. Just check back on the forums every couple days in the contest sections. It really shouldn't take that long, maybe 5 minutes a week at most.

OP, I agree with you, it can be annoying to check sites frequently. Even more annoying when you stumble across a competition that's half over! :poly142: That's why I started this thread about a year ago.
