hi everyone.
i just joint recently. here i like to show some props that i am working on, its actually my first time that i am creating lowpoly props for game.
c&c are welcome !
@ Moosebish : i wanted to have some kind of asymmetry texture on my gun ! i mean some kind of blood splash on the texture. but i got lazy to do that ! so ......
Good stuff. Is this supposed to be a brand new gun-no scratches, grime, etc.? Spec definitely needs to be turned up-exxagerate the edges. You might just need to turn up the brightness of your source light.
@ Baddcog : haha that was funny ! i wrote :"noraml" and "speular". thanks for mentioning that ! but about tris, i came with 2 LOD for the gun. first LOD is about 2K and second LOD is about 1K ! i assumed that the gun will be used in a FPS game !
recently i played Deus Ex Human Revolution and i saw some cool high detailed guns, i also realized that guns in this game come in 2 LOD (i am not sure 100%), so i thought it gonna be cool to ape the idea !
here is just another gun that i was busy with for 2 days. i tried to use people's suggestion about increasing Specular level . i increased my specular level in 3ds Max and looks OK but when i take the gun to the marmoset i can not take control over the specular map of my gun. Marmoset doesn't allow me to use specular color map it just allow me to specify one color for speculaity. any idea to use more than one specular color in Marmoset ?
Its because you dont have a specular map(or i cant see it) you were just increasing the level of reflection that was calculated by using smoothing groups/normal map .
here is just a new gun, it gonna be the last one, for creating this one i used a little bit of my creativity to sculpt a gun from scratch then retopologized it in zbrush and painted in 3ds Max.
not sure which map it is in your turnaround (normal, or diffuse), but I can see the seams. Have you tried blending them together in ZBrush and re-normalizing them in photoshop? Everything else looks great but if you can get rid of those seams, it will really help this one.
Thanks Alex, the problem was Diffuse map. has no padding so i just changed background color of my Diffuse map (was black). i also changed the lighting, i think looks better now.
David sculpt looks good. Though the purpose of the wood stump by his leg is that it's supposed to be touching his leg in order to support the sculpture. David was made from marble which can break thus the extra support. You'll see these wooden stumps attached to the legs of marble sculptures a lot, especially in the case of Roman copies of Greek sculptures. If it was an other material like Greek originals such as Bronze, there would be no stump.

Yeah it's baked down and stuff but... someone has to be a stickler.
Also, you typed Specular and Normal wrong, so if using for portfolio piece...
