Hey guys, I'm a new artist looking for critique on my sites content and the design of the site. I'm trying to get work as freelance, paid by project. Any advice is most appreciated (:
I think you just need more work samples. The stuff on their looks good. Try making a full piece. I don't hire artist, but I don't think a couple small guns/props is going to be enough. It seems some entry people might have 3 characters if their focus is character work. Or a small section of a level (room, street) if their focus is on environments.
Since you have no official art degree either, I don't know how much that will hurt you towards a full-time art position. You could also try making a small game demo with your own art and maybe pick up a level designer job.
Now the goal of freelance is freelance. Long as you can find someone to pay your work, I'm sure there is some price point people will buy from you. Your work is good, so try to get freelance work and see what happens. I don't know how easy it is to find people looking for freelance art though.
Your artwork is really good, but I was really put off by your website. It is kind of that steriotypical "bad artist" website. But you are a good one so it is confusing.
I would do everything Ninja said. And get rid of all the layer styles and embossing (it is really corny).
Also the rust on your airship isn't placed where rust would actually be, I would look at more reference of old cars and machines.
Thanks for the feedback, just what I needed. I'll get on them changes to the site. I'm thinking of doing a playthrough video of a environment I make, sounds just the right thing. Can I really be just a prop artist? I enjoy making vehicles, weapons, ships, machinery, much better than I would a full environment.

what you think of my work, honestly? Do I need more practice before freelance?
