Medieval Outpost [UDK]

Started work on an environment that's both for my portfolio and for some testing further on. The scene will be a outpost/village in a hilly, mountainous region. I'm still working out the concepts a bit and will come back with a layout of the outpost, but the general idea can be seen in the thumb below.

A question I got is if its better to work with entire floor section modules rather than pieces of corners and walls? (See red/blue lining in thumb above). Considering lightmap resolutions can get cramped if they take too much space in UDK? Been looking a bit at the mount'n'blade examples on the polywiki, but still thought I'd ask.
