try graphire 6x8, they're cheap and good, see if you like it, if you really like it then upgrade to intuos 2 or 3 both are excellent, but I still prefer the graphire pen since its thinner.

I have a nice big and new Intuos 3, with those funky buttons on the sides with transparent and glossy plastic surface. I keep touching the right scrollpad with my hand when using it which completely screws up what i'm doing but i'm too lazy or always forget to turn it off too.
