Blender for texturing?

Hello! (First time posting so I hope there aren't any mistakes!)

So I'm just about to start learning 3D animation, and I wanted to know if it's possible to do textures in Blender (for models made with it) without needing photoshop or any other program?

Yes.

You can bake textures from procedural maps as well. As so often, depends on the result you want to achieve.

I can only second that.
You will stumble over much more complicated issues down the road.

Remember that images that you create inside Blender (with the popup where you specify the width and height etc.) do not save their changes when you save your scene. For your changes to be saved you need to explicitly save them to an external file like a .PNG, or pack them into your .blend file. EDIT: After testing it, you need to do this every time you made changes to your image.
Without doing either of these, if you just save your scene and leave Blender then any changes you made to the image during that scene, like painting on it, will be lost. When you open the scene again the image will be blank with its default colour (or how it was when you last packed it internally or saved as PNG).
Don't ignore this, it really sucks when it happens.

If you want to edit the flat texture with an image editor you can use something like Krita or Photoshop. You keep Blender and your image editor open, use the editor to make some changes, save the image and reload the image in Blender.
