What's going on with Maya importing all these groups?

I'm coming from a Max background so bear with me...

I just imported a high poly from Zbrush into Maya.

Now, I noticed in the outlier that it imports it as a ton of tiny groups.

Why isn't it just one group or one object?

How would you manage a high poly from zbrush if it does this?

It's been some time since I imported/exported stuff between Maya and Zbrush, but was your model divided into multiple subtools before exporting? If you want to import it as one mesh, try merging all subtools&polygroups.

Zbrush assigns lots of these weird little groups on export. To avoid it, untick the "grp" button in the export options.

It's based on polygroups in zbrush. Use Tool: Poly Group: Group Visible to turn the mesh into a single group, or turn off Tool: Export: Grp as suggested.

Thanks for the help. Yep, all those little stitches were coming in as separate groups.
