Polycount is a website for the discussion of video game art, and on occasion various things not in relation to video games, or the art within. I visit this website on a semi regular occasion, because I draw pictures, and have often been heard to say that I even "Enjoy" drawing, although we are waiting for proper citation on this statement, as the sources are questionable at best. The idea of video games as art is a subject of debate, some argue that video games, as a form of media, are art, while others are of the belief that they are nothing more than toys.
We could make, that that the glass is kinda half full with poision or something. That would fit both sides I guess.
But If serious I think some said here before me:
There are guys who put in 15-16 hours of work a day becoe better, even if they don't have to. And I doubt they are worried about getting fired or finding a job eventually. I find that the simplest conclusions are always the rightest ones, but usually the most hard to realise.
Just be so damn good, that no one will ever want to fire you. Just study your ass off for 16 hours a day and people won't have a choice but to hire you.
Surely everyone want's to do less and get more, but how you can determine what's enough and what's not? I think the results of your work might give you a hint.
And all this talking is just another excuse not to "work".
I created this thread, because sometimes it helps to step back and see things objectively. Nothing is black and white (Except those two colors, or neutrals if you prefer.)
Not to say anybody here believes in Black/White logic.
because of the positive and negative blog postings?
Seriously. Another 'blog' remark. Awesome!
I think you've missed the point of this blog post bullshit completely. And if you think you might have, as I think you might have, I suggest re-reading bearkubs post.
These threads (the positive/negative ones) are topics about the industry - you know - the one WE work in. Thats pretty on-topic to what a community of industry professionals would like, don't you think?
And while I don't agree that we've needed THREE threads on the topic, they certainly are not the type of posts bearkub asked to keep to a minimum.
A second thread wasn't needed, a third thread was simply a dick move. This thread is closed. If you want to continue the discussion, the first two threads have been merged here:

The bottom half of the glass is full, while the top half is empty.
Done and done.

For everyone who thinks it is their personal responsibility to mock/create joke threads when they think another thread is irrelevant, read this:
