Altair [WIP]

Hey all, so for my animation class we were tasked with creating a biped model of our choice. I wanted to do Altair because I love assassins creed and thought it would keep me inspired to work on my animation for class :P
I'm still new to character modeling so I kinda suck at topology, so any pointers there would be awesome! We aren't supposed to use any textures so and details I want have to be modeled into the character. I was going for a stylized Altair so he doesn't look exactly the same, think littlebigplanet style almost.
We also have a 5k poly limit which adds to the fun.
I spent all day trying to get hands to look good, these are like the third try, and they still don't look the best :/
Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated, whack away!
