I made this Minotaur for a challenge a couple of months ago. I've decided to amp the piece for the portfolio. I'm hoping to get some feedback on where to take this piece and if it's heading in the right direction.
This is the sculpt of the Minotaur thus far (without armor):
Legs from the knee down still need a lot of work:
Some older renders of the minotaur with his armor:
Close up of the Leg Armor:
And a close up of some detailing on the hand:
I wont be adding too much more detail to the head as he will eventually be covered in thick fur. Any feedback would be great.

very unique proportions and design, works great
I dunno why but I think of Cyberdemon.. just pre-Cyber :poly124:
I love seeing timelapse footage for modelling. Seeing how it's all coming together is a beautiful thing.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but for the minotaur, were you using something like sculptris? Looks like it to me. And if you were, what did you export it to?

@woogity: Thanks. The Obliques? Yeah I was basing them on some reference I have of a body builder, but you're right. I'll have a play with those. Cheers.
@Mistry10: Well, I was going to model a large bow for him, and have a side shot of him with the bow fully flexed. But i'm open to ideas. :poly121:
@fabio brasilien: Thanks, Will have a play with his Obliques. :thumbup:
@Simmo: hmmm Cyber-Demon.... don't give me ideas, lol. Thanks.
@bounchfx: Thanks, I appreciate the comments.
@brandoom: Cheers!
@Divine Rage: Thanks man, I don't feel too comfortable doing tuts, but I might be able to manage a video in the future... again, though, it's not something I feel too comfortable with. Thanks for the great comments. :thumbup:
@MattQ86: Yeah, you have a point. I'll have to roughen them up a bit. Cheers!
@55joe: Cheers!
@TheMadArtist: Yeah, I have a couple of weapon designs for him. A bow and an Axe. Cheers.
@Bishop: No I didn't use sculptris I used ZBrush and non of this has been exported, the images are just ZBrush renders. Thanks.
@JamesArk: Thanks.
@bretmcnee: Cheers.
@phillip.bailey: lol, yeah that's just me being lazy :poly122: I'll probably refine it some more and make it less obvious. Cheers.
@mkandersson: Thank you.
@Goraaz: Cheers.
@Spark: Cheers, I didn't want to make him look too gnarly, I wanted him to have a bit more character. Maybe this character lets his Armor do all his speaking... lol. Thanks for the input. I'll have a play with some features.
@frwanque: Cheers.
@Jon Rush: Thasnks man.
Thanks for all the great feedback and crits. I tried to reply to everyone that posted but I'm sorry if I missed anyone. I wasn't expecting this much interest. Anyway, tomorrow's my day off so I will have a play with a few of the things mentioned.
Thanks again!
Just threw a loin cloth on to have a look at a more simple presentation. Rather than the overly complex Armour.... thoughts?
Seriously though, this looks amazing mon! For some reason it feels very tangible, real. I especially love the hands, just drop dead gorgeous.
You're probably not going for something as ferocious as this but I've always loved the the chains/muzzle on this minotaur:

Jungsik, Cheers.
Dean, Thanks. Yeah, like you said I'm not really going for a fierce look. And the muzzle doesn't really do it for me. But thanks for the links. Something to consider.
Josh_Singh, Thanks a lot. I appreciate the comments.
As much as I like the armour I sculpted earlier, and as much as I'd hate to waste it, I'm not sure if it lends too much to the character. Or weather the simpler Loin cloth (or similar) outfit works better?
Thanks for the feedback.
Still work to do on the pose and the sculpt itself.
Looks badass - cant wait to see the final!
great work man
Doing a bit of a detail pass on the body. The head hasn't been touched yet.... saving that for last. I will re-pose the detailed version once I retopo him.
Some screens from ZB.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Great sculpt like every one i love the hands and the pose with the bow is lush
as for crits the only thing that jumps to me is how smooth the head is makes it look more like a helmet compared to the details of the body a little more weathered look to the head would really help
Great work
A quick Mat test:
Keep Going, I wanna see more!
Did some work on the sculpt based on some crit I got in the "WAYWO" thread.
I'm going to fix his ears, retopo him and then add some final details... then work on his poses and render.
Also had a bit of fun with a slightly demonic variation of his head.
Any feedback before I shove him off to topogun would be great.
But I have a new spin on the minotaur, based on the Carlos Huante Concept.
Still WIP, leg haven't really been worked on too much.
love it !
@itismario: Yeah, that's what they look like in the concept, I made some changes to the design compared to the concept, but I thought the eyes were what sold the uniqueness.
