Recruiting Full Time Art Team for VR Installation! - Los Angeles

RareFaction Interactive is building a team of experienced game artists for a 4-6 month job to create a fun and multisensory VR installation. The experience will be showcased at a festival and a major sporting event later this year as part of a high exposure marketing campaign. We are looking for a team of artists well versed in Unity and able to create both high fidelity and highly optimized art for 90 FPS on desktop / 60 FPS on mobile. The experience will be built for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, alongside parallel work on an optimized mobile port to Google Daydream and Samsung Gear VR.

The experience involves an action based game mechanic where players fight off stylized robotic enemies by throwing projectiles to blow them up, similar to the game SUPERHOT. The environments include a semi-realistic urban street that transitions to an underground sci-fi lair. The second half of the experience includes 6 semi-realistic and unique human enemies, and a giant monster final boss you fight in a sports stadium.

Roles

Game art development experience is required for all roles, with knowledge of standard game art pipeline practices for proper game modeling, texturing, animation, and exporting:

  • Tech Artist: Unity expertise required. Responsible for art pipeline, exporting, assisting with integration of assets in engine.
  • Shader and Effects Artists: Unity experience required. Responsible for particles, glass materials, shattering, splintering wood effects.
  • Character Modelers: Responsible for modeling and texturing stylized sci-fi robots, and semi-realistic humans.
  • Vehicle Modelers: Responsible for modeling and texturing motorcycles.
  • Rigger: Unity experience required. Responsible for rigging humans, monsters, robots, motorcycles.
  • Animators: Unity experience required. Responsible for animating humans, monsters, robots, motorcycles.
  • Environment Artists: Unity experience preferred. Responsible for modeling and texturing an urban street, sci-fi lair, and sport stadium.
  • UI Artists: Unity experience required. Responsible for creating 3D world space VR UI for menus and other interactions.
  • Concept Artist: Responsible for look development for environments, characters, effects, and key gameplay moments.

Tools

  • Modeling and Texturing: Up for discussion. Must be able to hand off clean and organized FBX or Maya assets to Riggers working in Maya.
  • Rigging and Animation Tool: Maya
  • Game Engine: Unity

Schedule and Location

The job would begin around Aug 15, 2017 and potentially last as long as Feb 2018. Our studio  RareFaction Interactive is based in Los Angeles.
