Texturing Techniques Help Please

Hi! I'm trying to understand how make my filigree plate look like this flask texture style from the order 1886. 



I think I understand that it has to do a lot with masking, uses of cavity/ao maps. I have substance and quixels, but don't fully understand how to achieve this quality and style of texturing.

My target engine is unreal 4, but I also need to try to achieve this look using the deprecated spec/gloss workflow in unity 4 using marmoset shaders. I'm also trying to improve my texturing ability in general too. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
