[Maya-Viewport 2.0] How would I hide scene objects from a specific light?

....so that certain objects aren't lit or affected by a particular light?

Using the menu tab ->Lighting/Shading ->break light links
Has no effect within Viewport 2.0
Neither does using the Light linking editors - Light-centric , Object-centric

Maybe I'm doing something wrong here on my end... shouldn't be all that difficult, should it?

Has anyone had any luck adding/removing objects that are being affected by a specific lightsource within Viewport 2.0?

I tried that, no luck, unfortunately i dont think autodesk implemented lightlinking for VP2 yet on Maya.

Confirming as well. I was looking at light linking as a way to get around pixelated shadows using a directional light in a large scene.

A single light has a single shadow map for all objects it affects so in a large scene even a 8k map does not have enough resolution. Happens with both Depth Map Shadows and Ray Trace Shadows (my guess is Ray Trace Shadows also use a shadow map somewhere in the real-time rendering pipe so similar limitations apply). A spotlight gives better shadows but has other problems (ugly artifacts, point source instead of orthographic). Currently Mental Ray is being used as a working but sloooooow alternate approach, not ideal at all :/
Anyone figured out any nifty tricks for hi-res shadows in VP2.0 or any news on Autodesks plans for light linking support?
