my inspiration is always coming from 2d painting ( original concept) and some literature , since they are free from any 3d digital technical barrier influence .

the only issue with sci-fi probably our perception is not as "frozen in time" as fantasy style ,because the nature of how we improve the technology every year. maybe the best way is to read sci-fi novel , so you can imagine ithe visual yourself. such as Leviathan Wakes ( the Expanse series ) , and most of Isaac Asimov's Novels..
but let me give a shot , what i show here is quite outdatedart but for me it holds important role for modern sci-fi art Makoto kobayashi

I'm also doing a lot of research on past art movements. I really like Proto-Cubism and Impressionist art.
This is currently on exhibit at the liverpool tate art gallery. Done a few drawings from it the other week, it's pretty large in person. There's a few other works including some of Henri matisse cubism/impressionism sculpture work. If you are in travel range, i'd recommend you go see them. The style that will never grow old for me is from prince of persia:
