Hey guys, these are looking sweet! Thought I would join in with a Deep-sea Murloc, with any luck i'l turn him into a spellcaster. Either a mage or shaman, not sure yet.. any feedback would be awesome
Rehplyx: I think it is a good start, but I think you should work on the anatomy and form before you start detailing any further. Quite a bit of the mesh looks lumpy or flat right now. Work out everything at a lower resolution so you can build out the forma bit better. Good start though.
Today I tweaked the leg armor a little, and I also reviewed how I made the frost on the arms. I'll be redoing the left arm with the same looks/technique as the right arm I just did.
@Lotet: Yea the head is only a first quick draft, I'm definitely going to come back to it. As for the brittle bones you're probably referring to the femur qhich I find indeed very thin now that you mention it, I will review that as well. Keep up the good work on your Orc!
I've done a colored version of the concept, but I'm not happy with it. I' start the model tomorrow. But the colors will definitely get an overhaul. Suggestions are welcome.
DVL: I like the changes you made with the ice on the hands. Also, I think the chains could maybe be a bit chunkier. They feel kind of thin to me, compared to the rest of the style you have going.
Jonas: Good start, keep it up. I really like the silhouette you have going. I'll be curious to see how this translates. Are you going for diffuse only for the final or full materials?
Here's what I have. Not much different from last update but I'm calling it a bit early tonight so I can relax for a bit.
Worked on the armored hand today, added better frost shapes. I also started designing the chest and back areas, there's still work to be done + I intend to add a slim and long cloak. Going to work on that tomorrow.
Most of the shapes, especially armor, are totally undetailed just to get a sense of the shape, I'll be coming back to it all once I'm satisfied with how everything's looking.
Liking how yours are turning out as well, at first I was a bit worried that it might get a bit too noisy with too much going on, but it works really well in the last picture.
tsabszy: Love it! DVL: looking good! I like the hood, you still need to beef up those bones though. Slave_zero: awesome, head looks pretty wierd though, what is it? Praetus: looking great, not much more to say, keep at it!
Everything I've been seeing has been so inspiring! Love the progress on that character DVL! Just finished up the concepting. So now time to join you guys on the 3D side!!
lotet > 'nothing to say, clean sculpt so far I'm looking forward to see more
praetus > interesting piece ! Only thing bothering me is that materials don't read that well in some areas, for instance the blades on the wings. I can't figure out if it's metal or wood, or both. Otherwise, sculpt looks very clean and sharp
Slave_zero > It reminds me of Howl's moving Castle movie :poly124: Looks great to me, colors scheme is nice, it just need more saturation.
tsabszy > awesome concept
RogerP > Nice horse Only critic I have is that the hoofs looks weird. Too blobby, especially the front ones that also seems to lean forward too much.
Good stuff. Here is the initial bake that I'll use to power the diffuse. Final product will be diffuse only so I'll use the AO, cavity, prt-P, prt-N, and bent normals as a base for value. I may go back in Zbrush and block out some basic colors from polygroups for masks.
Wow guys, that's super cool stuff. Really wish we could've signed up under the Polycount banner
Praetus: This is coming up well!
Turret: Love your design and color scheme, this is going to turn into a killer character.
Neil666: Awesome idea, and very good execution so far. Can't wait to see that Dryad textured.
For my part here's some detailing progress on the armor/leather belts:
So I decide to join you guys in this thread. I am working on Diablo 3 Occultist. Here is the original concept from Blizzard:
And here is my own version of the concept. Occultist actually consumes a large amount of dark magic thus their body gets fat. In my own version, due to that fact, the body is deformed even further. Of course, he becomes more powerful, thus I eliminate the staff as it is not needed any more.
Here is my WIP. I have been slow as my full time job consumes most of my time. Feedback is welcome always.
DVL - This is looking great! I really like the boot armor. The only thing I will critique is the hood. The way it dips in the middle feels somewhat unnatural. I feel it should be peaking there instead of dipping as the head is directly underneath it.
I know the picture I posted before looks like a technicolor mess right now, but I'll be using it as a guide for painting, so it's in no way complete. Also, I think I'm going to redo the wheels out of metal as right now they blend in too much with the rest of the vehicle. This will give a better idea of where I will be taking the rest of the model. I started painting the bear head. Ignore the post though, haven't gotten to it yet.
Great stuff guys. I haven't had as much time lately to work on this, but here is some updates on wood and gold trim for the front of the glaive launcher
praetus > looks good so far Pay attention to values as well as colors because the the model is pretty detailed so you'll need good value separation to make the whole design read well.
tsabszy > sick !
Jonas Ronnegard > looking forward to seeing more looks clean so far !
'still trying to figure out how to dress my succube.
Damn Ravenslayer. That's looking awesome. Here's my progress. I shifted the colors on the wood with some input from coworkers. It matches close to the concept drawing as well as the Shan'Do Illidan skin. So much to go and I go on vacation soon. I'm hoping I'll be able to put the time in to finish these textures, ;_;
Base mesh is done... it took so long, but it was worth it, since i wanted to solve the problem that an actual woman body should fit into the armor and still keep it as slim as possible compared to the original marine suit.
the flamethrower is just a special addon for her made by Rory Swann, so that's not something belonging to a medic armor and also as i explained on the colored concept sheet, the syringe gun can also be detached in an emergency
hope you like it, c&c always welcome!!
the Jolly will be attached to the back of her right thigh, i'll just update the gif later, when it's done (i totally forgot about it )
He's a bit amorphous and blobby at the moment. It might be worth thinking about the underlying anatomy and how it's being affected by the tumorous growths. How gravity might affect them. That sort of thing.
You're not too far away from a really cool looking model. You just need a little more design consideration before you jump into finalising him.

I went to the main challenge page, and clicked on join once more, then I automatically came to my admission page where I could upload a new picture.
so no edit button or anything, just click the join button for the right team and your back at your existing submission page.
Thanks for all the help.
I just need to do the wings, bird head, and glaive and then I'll be able to wrap up the sculpt.
here is some reference
I started a bit before blizzfest, and it doesn't fall within the criteria for the gameartisan comp - but i figured i'd get involved
Here is some of my progress for the blizzardfest, making a Unicorn/Pony from the Whimsyshire level in Diablo III.
Gonna keep an eye out for this ghread
I got some more sculpting done tonight. I still have to do the bird head and glaive. Then I'll get to making the low.

Update from working this weekend.
Watch the head shape, it's starting to look 'Zergy'. Right now it almost reminds me of the BW lurker art or the SC2 Swarmhost.
