Recommended edge padding?

I'm baking a model @ 4096x4096 but I believe the final in-game texture size will be 2048*2048.

What would be the recommended edge padding to avoid seams w/ mipmapping?

    Padding at least 16.You cant really avoid the mipmapping unless you disable it manually for your texture in the engine I think. Seams? Texturing seams, or normalmap seams?

    * Or you mean seams because of the mipmapping?

    With 16 texels padding 4 Mips will be seamless. This is usually sufficient as long as your UV chunks and background are not totally different in brightness and color. So bake at 4096²px with 32px padding.
