Hello awesome people! Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is out today, so a few of us polycounters who worked on the game would love to share some work with you! I am so proud of this game! Hope you all enjoy!
My major responsibilities for the game was prop and destructible creation. I focused on a lot of game play oriented art such as pickups, the weapons, and destructibles.
I was brought on in November as a prop artist, but through expressing my interest in doing environment art they then moved me onto a multiplayer map and some campaign spaces. I was on the game for about a year and a half. It was half prop artist and then the rest environment artist.
I created alot more pieces for the Optimus level than the grimlock level. I mostly set dressed and helped finish the lighting on the Grimlock level. The optimus and multiplayer level i set dressed and lit.
LOL good job guys!
The only one that threw me off was 009.jpeg that double cylinder connection boggles the mind, other then that awesome work and congrats all!
Ugh! When i get home hopefully i can get some photos up.. I need to retake a lot of my shots and need to figure out a way to get nice and fancy photos of the Arc level..(and of the Arc + Nemesis). This is what i got in the mean time to hold you folks over.
This was for a cinematic. I was given the original hipoly and lopoly (from The first game). Cleaned up the lopoly, about 30% of the hipoly is my work, and about 60% of the lopoly is my work. re-UVmapped it, rebaked it, and textured all of it.
Inspiring work, I've spent a lot of time marveling at the amount of detail in the environments and props so far. Very, very cool Was there concept art to work from for all of those props?

Yes, we were usually working from concept by our fantastic concept team. There are a few weapons I had to do on my own, but after making so many prior, I was able to keep it looking right, haha. I personally don't like doing that since I don't fancy myself strong at original designs, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do, haha.
Thanks again for the compliment Mad Artist
environments are varied and put together very well!
Thanks ae! Yeah a lot of focus was put to really differentiate the different world areas this time around. Very proud of our environment team! I have a hard time choosing which areas I enjoy most visually!

Really glad you liked them! We have a really talented team of senior environment artists! I learned LOADS from them! I'm really glad they decided to actually take input from the first one, and change alot of thing visually.
Hi Wester, played the PS3 demo and enjoyed it as much as the first. I now want to grab a full version. Is the PC version a large step up from console ?
@ebagg: we heavily relied on G1 references regarding every aspect of the game! hope it does justice for ya! Thanks!
@nathdevlin: Wes is slow, so I'll answer for him, hehe. Mercenary games did a fantastic job on the PC version. If you've got a pretty decent PC to push the visual settings to the max, and are comfortable with a mouse and keyboard, by all means! I'd say it runs absolutely best on a good PC over the other platforms. Just my opinion though! (<dumb artist)
@ae: Unfortunately, aside from my Starscream jet, there is no other Character art directly available that I know of. We actually outsourced most of our characters, and only had one in house character artist doing key characters and vehicles. However, I don't think it wold hurt to send him a friendly message at work asking if he has anything to add for the good of this thread, so I'll give it a shot tomorrow
nathdevlin My suggestion on getting it on pc is purely speculation. I've heard people say that it looks stunning on pc! I have yet to see it but i'm going to make one of the guys show me today
More stuff on my end. I will take screengrabs of the environment I worked on as soon as the game finishes downloading from Steam. I also am awful at taking screenshots. Especially in Maya so i just threw the hipolies in Zbrush. Don't judge me too harshly.
I somehow lost the lopoly Nemesis..ugh. I will try getting it back somehow.
These next ships were fun. My art director just told me to make decipticons so i took the old crappy models with no real textures, and basically transformed them into my own designs.
I also did that big purple one on the bottom left.

Any chance someone wants to go ahead and get some more texture flats posted? Always love looking those over.
Thanks Mark.N! Unfortunately, from my understanding, wires and flats are considered source art, so I am going to have to hold off on those.
@AE, enjoy the game! If you or anyone else is on an xbox, feel free to add me for some online robot violence in MP! Gamertag: SiDbEaSt
Awesome stuff!
Thanks everyone!!
haha, thanks man. And I did state, VERY image heavy!

I'm all tapped out, but I do believe more is on the way from the likes of my talented colleagues. :]
