I know we have at least a few woodworkers on the boards, so let's see what you're working on or have made! Woodworking, home improvement projects, 3D printing, really anything you're making in the real world goes in this thread. Shots of your shop, new tools, etc, are also fair game.
Here's a side table I finished recently. It's made out of walnut and maple.
And here's a jig I put together to more safely and accurately do pattern routing. This piece is part of the leg assembling I'm making for some more side tables. The extra blocks around the workpiece keep the router perfectly level, which reduces cutting errors. It also gives a more stable platform so I can take slower/more precise cuts. It's a lot safer than doing it on the table router too. Everything is stuck down with double-sided tape so it can be repurposed later.
Here are some stacks of wood that are acclimating for future projects. There's a forestry service nearby that has really good prices on hardwood. They have limited supply, but it's all local/sustainably harvested. Much of this wood likely came down in the derecho storm that hit Iowa this fall.
Hi Guys, this is my final render, I learned a lot about the pipeline and I'd like to know your opnion about it, modeling, lighting and render. Here is my artistation with more images. Thank you
@thomasp I acctually took your advice and wrote them through twitter (twitter shaming) AND they freaking answered me 1000 times faster and they are looking into the whole thing!
I wanna share with you my latest weapon with a very brief modeling breakdown (using fusion design timeline). Hope you like it. Also appreciate your comments and critique .
Modeled in Fusion 360, optimized in 3ds Max, highly poly was done in Zbrush, textured with Substance Painter and rendered with Marmoset Toolbag
Ok so this is a bit of a catchup post, I have been playing with a bunch of compositions since the original scope of the project was too large (who woulda thought huh)
Before I went smaller I actually added more to the scene, but soon after I realised that the project is too big
I changed my main camera to be more focused on the temple. This was ok for a while but was still not quite enough trimming.
I tried changing up the composition a little which felt okay but in the back of my head I knew this wasnt solving the core problem (trying to scale the project down) but I kept with it and started adding textures, foliage and lighting to get a better feel of where I was at.
Eventually I finally made the call to really reduce the amount of work and rather push the quality of what I have, sort out a solid comp with decent lighting and Im much happier with the progress of this project because of it. Sometimes less is more
And so here we arrive at the current state of the project. Next is to sort out the landscape and get a more final look with the lighting so I can really start to add detail to the scene

Improved my volumetric explosion shader.
Simple drag and drop into the scene, no scripts, no extra libraries, no post processing tricks, correct depth sorting with solid objects and fully modifiable flame / opacity. Also pretty lightweight on the GPU.
I'm not sure this is the best part of the forum to post, After a long period without posting any 3D, I think I stopped After the Throne challenge when I started my first job.
Anyway I'm starting to make some render of my old (and probably New) work and I wanted to share it here to have feedback about it. I cannot change the model but I can tweak the render. Or at least take feedback for the next assets I will rendered.
I have more screenshots on my Artstation : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/rA5KO6 (I wish Polycount had something like artstation ahah I've got some Idea for that ahahah)
