considering that for just a 12 inch you could blow your 1k, i htink your better off spending part of it on a intuos, which should olny hit you between 400 to 600

Most people I know who had a 12" Cintiq weren't happy with it, If you want a Cintiq go with the big one. It was worth it for me, I could never draw as well as I could with pen & paper on traditional tablets and that was after 10 years of using them.
I have access to a 12 inch Cintiq at school and an Intuos 4 at home, and I much prefer the Intuos over the Cintiq. I think it's mostly the screen size, 12 inches isn't big enough, so I end up just using the Cintiq like a regular tablet, and if you're going to do that, the Intuos is better.
