What exactly are you trying to do with the weapons long term? As for the picture you posted, I would suggest placing the sword on a darker background to make it pop off the page more. The detail that is there is really hard to see due to that.
I went from self-taught for a year to first-party AAA-development. If you work hard enough on your art, befriend the right people ie networking. People will notice you and will want to help you get in.
Done. For what it's worth, I don't have a hard-set preference between realistic or stylized art (and I don't think the two are mutually exclusive); I tend to be more attracted to things that do their chosen style well.
Looks pretty good, got any references to compare with? The left/right click buttons seem a little high and the trackpad seems a little low, also those edges might be too tight? A little hard to tell though.
Like mentioned before, Vue isn't good for realtime. If you are looking for a fast way to make vegetation and foliage, you're still going to have to do it the hard way. Unless you use speedtree, and even then, it's just for trees.
its really hard without any textures, sorry. but I think you should get some textures going, its a lot easier to see whats missing when you are closer to reality then white AO renders.
...with you since Shogun I, stopped at Medieval II since Steam is a requirement rather than an option otherwise I would say Really hard to resist after seeing these screenshots, but I will stay strong.:poly142: (hopefully)
Do you have a concept drawing so we can see where you're going with this. It's hard to critique anything other than basic modeling and edge flow without having an idea of what it's supposed to look like.
This would be my suggestion too. Planar map and relax it. This sort of shape is going to be hard to do without distortion. This sort of thing comes down to either (a) easy to texture but distorted or (b) less distortion but a pain to texture. Choose. :-/
If you have 3ds Max, this script is free, makes a good set of low-poly branches. The leaves are too detailed, but adding your own leaf-shells isn't hard. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/tree-maker
