I agree haha, Im convinced shes not actually human just half- dummy half- turret gatling gun trap with no legs. Almost like a scarecrow, just place it somewhere and let it do it's work. Did some work on the hair and hat today, blocking in the actual strands and flowers.
timbersaw finally decompiled :v i redid the scribble i had before so now its a more detailed scribble pretty weak idea but i had fun doin it. i was thinking rotting wood and "disguise" the hat is supposed to be something like both a rafflesia flower and an ushanka.
I like the style! As far as colors and style goes, I think you're mushrooms are too "static" in nature and really small in size. It seems like you exxagerated sizes for a cartoony style so why not make some cute, bent mushrooms and perhaps some large flowers as decals?
the black/red "text" of that building with the yellow flower logo is the wrong way round, actually half of it doesnt even look right no matter which way you flip them... did you just make them up? :o Overall the scene looks quite nice, keep it up.
FreddieW has an interesting post about using the 7D for video: http://www.freddiew.com/2010/07/27/flower-warfare-and-the-canon-7d/ One of the main reasons I want to shoot video is to do action and VFX. According to FreddieW and some others, DSLRs aren't the best for lots of movement.
Im trying to render out a scene in Maya using Mental ray, but i have planes that are Alpha mapped (Bushes, flowers grass etc) But they being fully renderd as tho the alpha map is being ignored, its not see through as it should be if i do a render with maya software, anyone know how to get this working? thanks in advance
I have this gift code for Telltale Games' Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse, that I got as part of a deal while buying flowers for my mom. However, I already have the game so... I thought I'd give it away. I'll email the license key and redemption link to the first PM I get about it.
Not sure if it's because of the render, but I see some black outlining going on with your alphas. Looks like the texture map is bleeding past the alpha (your previous post has the moss on a green BG, so I'm not sure). It's noticeable mostly at the base, which looks more like it's with the flowers, than moss.
you could start by making the ends triangles insgtead of quads. And personally I think 2 tris is enough: <|> and you could probably even get away with using a 3 or 4 sided pyramid per 'flower'. bounchfx - you shaved your beard in movember? You're supposed to grow them now!
Besides several edge loops on the large petals...keep those and do alphas for the little ones in the center. The rest of the details you can keep but depending which flower species you based this one it seems like vines and other more "harmful" vegetation like bramble would go nicely around it.
