Triangle, vertex and so on count on single meshes are just irrelevant on modern hardware. GeForce GTX 660 can grind about 1 bilion tris/second. So as long as single frame won't exceed 100mln triangles it's good to go (;. The real issue is amount of unique objects per scene. On PC because of software overhead maximum amount…
I've been doing a ton of studies recently. It's been helping, but i think it's going to take some active analisis to get rid of this as i need to activley unlearn bad habits. http://i.imgur.com/5As7eFk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aYSVN5k.jpg I haven't been posting them all up though. The problems persist regardless of how i…
If you go with the 2,718 tri lod you could probably round out the gauges, bottle and tank a bit and still come in under 3k? Especially if you delete the unseen tris. You could probably push it up to 5k or hell even leave it, 8k -unseen isn't going to be that expensive really. And as if we haven't beaten this dead horse…

I did kind of stray away from the original design int he sculpt, and to comment on the poly count I managed to get it down to 664 tri's with the same shape and look. The normal map is 512x so I'm fairly sure its okay now for real-time use. I will try and get the shape right in a base mesh next time (I'll be doing that at…
Been hunting around and got some much better prices after a tip from a Supermicro adviser. Apart from the monitor, Scan are ftw. *Had to change the motherboard model because it wasn't compatible with the x16 slot required by the new Radeon video card which was weird because it's actually the latest model that can take more…
