I'd go with Mr Bolton's non destructive pro-boolean und dynamesh workflow, for that thing... but yeah as mentioned, testing will help verify you're on an envisioned path forward to finalization.

Man i wonder how would be the asset creation pipeline for something like this. Dynamesh > Decimate > Import on substance painter with 8k textures > Crash.
