Thanks wirrexx! I'll keep this advice in mind for the future. Forgot to update my post, but after much trial and error the last couple nights, I managed to get something working! Here's a link to a new post on my progress thread with the old and new cylinder.…
Ashamed to admit this, but 2 Xbox Controllers and a Headset later yes, i rage quit FIFA 13 a whole lot. Something about that game that makes it impossible to withhold the anger and quit. Slowly learning to control it and just put the controller down gently, mainly for the fact its my last working controller now haha.
I really like the work you've put into it so far, nice work! If I had to think up a crit... You're caught between a "teenage room" that you see when browsing for bedding and an actual room someone has lived in for 13-18 years. It's the sum total of their entire existence packed into one room.
I got a Dell XPS M1330 - You can get them as cheap as £700. They weigh very little (I forget what they say it weighs) but they can have a lot of power. Mine is 4gig, decent graphics card and its light. I think its just 2kg. 13" screen - nice. Great machine..
I assume you are using the skin modifier? The vertex weighting is independent of the CAT system, and you can use any object in Max to drive mesh deformation. Follow the "To mirror envelope or vertex weight settings:"…

http://students.autodesk.com/ You can get maya and various other autodesk apps free for 13 months (it almost sounds like you can use them forever because in less than 12 months there will be another version with a free trial), I feel its better to use industry standard software if you can.
Alright, good points. And yep I'm trying to use various lighting conditions; the pictures in the OP are castle sunset and the more recent ones in post #12 and #13 are desert road. Here's a quick update which I hope is moving in the right direction: And thanks for helping me push the texturing futher; I really appreciate it.
Here is further work with the character work I've been working on. He a cyborg monk child, sort of like the last air bender. His age is around 12 to 13 years old but a little wise beyond his years. I definitely love the stylized look of art and its the that kind of feel Im going for.
Get out of our galaxy? How about trying to find life inside our galaxy first. The universe is 13 billion years old our sun is 4.5 billion years old Microbes fossils on Earth are 3.5 billion years old Oldest multicelled are 1 billion so the universe is pretty young still...
