Hi everybody ! I'm here to improve my works. In order to achieve this I need more critical input. So I will start to post my work here and maybe some of you will leave suggestions how to improve things. At the moment, I'm working on my old project ( I never finished it ) and this time, I'm willing to put and end to it. The…
Hi. I need some help regarding where to place highlights when doing handpainted textures. I am an amateur so please bear with me. As I know it, highlights are placed at areas where the light is the strongest. However, many reference that I see, seem to have their highlights placed randomly. Some use highlights to separate…
Hey guys, the December Noob Challenge thread is dead now without much activity, hence the new post! I'm hoping to get some crits and advice on what I can do on this model, or just in general what I can do to improve on for my next 3D project! I learnt a ton on this, but i'm almost ready to call it done. I'm just starting…
Hey there, I've been working on this for the last couple of days. The mesh is 1080 tris, textures are mostly 128x128, all handpainted. It's for a hobby project of me and a friend programmer making an oldschool-ish adventure game, ala zelda oot. Crits highly welcome:)
I'm finished this project. More information on my Artstation. -- Original post Hello . My first post ! I worked with Blender and Marmoset. All texture paint with Blender. I think change my light, less color. Next step, create a tileable texture.
right on, your work here looks really nice, I always enjoy seeing handpainted work and these are great. Curious, what program did you use? what was your approach? Also, it would be cool to have an owl sdk... hint, hint:)
First project completed for 2014 - Started waaay back in the year of 2013. Also squeezed in a small environment thingy in between. A bit less painterly than I hoped. Think Im going for a handpainted weapon or something of the sort next! Cheers!
This is a solid start! I'm thinking the next couple of steps are doing the armor detailing and wear and tear. Assuming you're going for a handpainted style similar to the World of Warcraft, look into Tyson Muphy's World of Warcraft character armors for painting reference. http://gardenturtle.blogspot.com/
awsome awsome awsome... so when the tutorials coming out dude? ^^ really like how the normal maps aren't overpowering everything, like its a solid mix between trad. handpainted diff only, and fancier normal map shader business.
Very true, for handpainted stuff its such a huge benefit. I was just going off the title of the thread of "successful 3d artist without drawing skil?" which I think you can be. But of course you will be far better off with 2d awesomeness :)
