Yeah this is very depressing for students/people trying to break into the industry, I was hoping to land a job by the end of summer in 6 months or so, but if people are being laid off at this rate, I don't have too much hope.
Hello, I am a junior data science student from northern Virginia looking to get a technical related internship for the spring and/or summer of 2024 in the video game industry. I can send my resume and/or portfolio to anyone interested. I know that a a lot of members here work at game companies so I thought I'd try and see…
@Fomori Thanks Fomori, it's awesome to hear that you liked the game that much! @Alex Javor Yes definitely, plus it's 25% off during the Steam summer sales! @FourtyNights Yeah, I've been wandering around Polycount for about 8 years now, haha.
I am 100% convinced this is the way you rapidly get better: https://polycount.com/discussion/98654/super-summer-character-art-boot-camp Just stick to making 500 polygon 256x256 Diffuse Only texture models. Make one a week.
Texturing done! And the whole project itself. Going to start with another portfolio piece so that I have as much as possible when the summer ends. Alhough I will go back some day and edit some things that need to be fixed. Crits are still welcomed :)
Awesome news buddy! It's sad you're leaving Seattle, but summer is almost over so you're not missing much, ha. Besides gotta go where the jobs are! I think those high poly pieces really helped. Very very happy for ya!
Here are my final images with horrible video (which i need to redo due to bad compression) for the Deadline i had few days ago, gonna upgrade it (mostly modes/textures) hopefully during summer. https://vimeo.com/81880068 Alternate Lighting
Mine's a chop-up of a photo of my vette leavin the mile-long tunnel at Zion National Park, from our drive out to Lake Powell this last summer for a family reunion. Full photo's here: http://studioflaagan.com/reunion/vettedrive/zion2.jpg
In-house eh? I guess that makes sense. How bout commercially though? Does an engine like Unreal3 have any testing software? I've gotten the role as a QA lead in a summer program, just wondering what are the must know tools and methods to it.
Megadeth and Nevermore rule, D.E.P. are pretty cool too, but i've never got into Dream Theatre...sounds like it'll be a pretty cool gig...shame there's no way in hell I can afford to go to the states this summer...at least there's still the Download festival in June
