Looks alright for the most part, the line flow around his waist below the abs seems weird, as the line flow is widining instead of coming closer together. And I'm not digging that odd pinch of lines in the middle of the back.
i wouldnt dream of using this for a lowpoly, even at 90,000 tris it started to have some weird pinching, but i got my model running smoothly in max to render and bake without any effort or loss of detail.
sphere i guess i any modeling package, then you just edit/extrude, etc EDIT : or you just pick a brush to make inner carving ( dont know the tool in zbrush ) , sculpt and some pinching
Heh, yeah... avoid triangles like the plague when working with Zbrush! In fact, anything other than well-laid-out quads can sometimes lead to unexpected problems when Zbrushing, mainly due to pinching.
Thanks Crazybutcher and Per for the tutorial and the script. However, just so I understand, why can't the other Connect options (slide and pinch, I think, although I can't remember for sure) be used for the same effect?
here is the picture. The mesh was created in MAX (without sub-divisions). Then I brought it into Maya to bake normals, but after I applied smoothing, something weird happened. It seems that pinching appears only if there is a vertex on open edge. Now the question is - do I have to close all my open edges, or? thanks!
Try getting some trim dynamic to smooth out some of the areas like the lip of the barrel, and as Jakkablade suggested use that damnStandard, go quiet heavy with it on a layer and reduce it to what you like from there. also you could grab the pinch brush to tighten up those creases. =]
I have a question! I tried modeling a gun like this a bit ago, and when I got to where the holes are in the barrel, I couldn't stop this weird pinching going on the hi poly. If you don't mind, can you show us how you solve that problem?
I agree the model is looking nice, and I was concerned the first time I posted which was only a few weeks ago. The fine collection of artists on polycount know what there talking about and any comments that you find non constructive, just take them with a pinch of salt. :)
It's looking pretty good, but there are some weird things going on a few places like for example on the right side of the front under the bottom two indentations, and on the right side near your details. There shouldn't be any pinching if it was entirely flat. Can you show us a wireframe of your model?
