Gaikai video demo

For your second question, yes that is correct. For you first and third question, I think you are looking for strict rules of what is suppose to belong where, and instead you should try to observe and understand. Especially parents who don't understand the hardware differences and just want their kid to shut up for the lowest price. I'd wait until you feel you have enough quality pieces. Putting up sub-par work on a portfolio (rather than somewhere you can get critique, like polycount) seems to be getting the cart before the horse.
