I just started this WIP rock. Looking for some feedback to push it a little further. I think I have a good base going, needs more color. I'm always afraid of pushing too much details.
Good work at wanting to improve. This isn't a great model for pushing your skills, as it's very simplistic and missing a lot of the tougher cases. The whole avoiding Ngon thing is really dependent on what you are modelling, they are actually totally fine on a flat surface. N-gons are mostly bad in cases where the plane is…
I would like to change my answer to agree with dynamo hahaha. You could probably keep pushing this project and push it further. Just check out the references I posted above.
Cute mechs. You need to push the values a bit for the shapes to read better. A bit flat atm. If they're mostly bare metal you can push the contrast quite a bit the the reflections.
Nikey, nice spear but I feel the sculpt doesn't give enough impression on it. It is nice and clean but I sense it could use more of pushing in cavities and pushing out impressions.
make sure you've set the modifier's luminance mid point to 0.5 ... if it's 0.0 then it will only push out, if it's 1.0 then it will only push in. 0.5 will use mid grey as mid height.
I think the contrast it a bit low. You should really push the lights and darks if you want the model to be viewed completely without lighting. This is a really good start, so just keep pushing it.
This is looking awesome man! I love the clean shape and silhouette, the design is super nice (though it does seem more like an assault rifle than a missile launcher XD). I'm not a hard surface guy but your polys are looking pretty good to me. I would be careful with consistency in the future, its a small nit picky thing…
Thanks again for all the kind words. Really thrilled that y'all seem to like them so much. :) Not sure about the best way to present wires/flats but I hope this'll do: Funky Bunnies, Ghostscape: Duly noted. I was trying to get some decent colour ramps on all the textures, but in hindsight (whether it's your shitty work…
