Think about the kind of game you'd be okay with putting 60 hours a week in for potentially, and work towards the immediate future of getting a portfolio that is artistic direction friendly towards such styles. This is especially if you're trying to break in. Breadth will come with time, or other factors.
If I do it correctly it don't work for me. I bake in Xnormal with cage. Every angle > 60 degree is marked as sharp and have split in UV. Normals look good everywhere but in Unity. I tried Marmoset, Xnormal Viewer, Unreal4 and Unity5.
Long term, learning to do repairs yourself will save you a lot of money. I can put new brakes on my car for $60 plus an hours time, or I can pay a shop to do it for $300. Most repairs are extremely easy.
That's why I like TotalBiscuit's first impressions. Is the game playable? Does it what are the menu options? Does it have FOV options? 60+ FPS? Mouse/keyboard/gamepad support? What games is it like? If I like those games will I like this?
I really enjoyed playing the new modes but this just feels like a mod and i know there is a single player campaign which hopefully is great but man i hope this is not a 60 dollar product. Games looks ace though congrats to the polycounters that are working on it :)
Not everyone is looking for innovation, many are looking for a game they can play offline, which is polished, doesn't need day 1DLC to unlock a R1 map and which forces you to sign up on a shoddy service for 60$, hardly the most difficult thing in the world.
this thing is a wet fart in comparison with a 60 ton M1A1 with 1500hp, a 120mm maingun, fully stabilized turret, TIS, LRF. stats for the VEC is: 18 ton in upgraded config, 310hp engine, 25mm gun, aand thats about it. the other things are missing.
It took about 6-8 minutes for the curvature and 10 for the AO (on an i7 3820). The AO was baked with 60 samples and full AA, and it was almost perfect, only did a very small Surface Blur in PS. It was still significantly faster than baking in xnormal.
lots of popping with the trees and env, also particles look a bit odd in places. Foliage is really low res. The good things are the lighting, water, looks 'bee ayy ootiful' Everything runs on my machine with highest settings at about 60 FPS
You can say anything you want as criticism, but your criticisms can be criticized as well. I think some of you think that it has to either be 100% realistic or 100% fantasy. You don't think that 60-75% realism is a valid goal?
