ray traced shadows only make a sharp shadow if your lightangle is zero.. THIS is a raytraced shadow with a lightangle of 1.5 and only 1 shadow ray and it exactly looks like your bake....

yea, the BBC series called sherlock (its on netflix) only 3, 1.5 hr episodes, so each is pretty much a movie, but there are another 3 coming out early next year, cant wait!
thanks Irreal, the fps did improve once i changed to nitrous. but trying to edit a mesh at 1.5 mil still takes forever lol. I beginning to wondering if upgrading to a new computer helped at all.
I tried that but it breaks the tiling then. In my brain it should work but I guess it doesn't. I ended up just doing 90 instead of 105, with help from fr00g1e's link. Thanks for all the help!
some UT3 levels have like 350k unique triangles in a level and 1.5-2 mio instanced tris, i gues thats quite a good indicator if you add the polygons of the characters running around
