Processing video is processor/RAM intensive, hard drive intensive perhaps, but not in the slightest GPU intensive. You can get by with a modest video card, just make sure it has a lot of vram for previewing effects etc. Your GPU certaintly won't effect your render/processing time, unless that is somehow GPU accelerated.…
Skills. I love this. Make a little squad vignette, I dare thee. He reminds me of imperial guard 40k... paint that and get all dry brush on it. Thanks for sharing... see you next year! :)
Find an inexpensive community college nearby and study art basics. Don't pay out the ass just to learn art basics somewhere. I'd try to avoid 30K in debt if possible. I'm not sure of the prices now, but art basics courses at a community college could be ~$400-600, which is much better vs. 30k. Use polycount or other…
The best tip i can give you: Try them out. Like Zac said, some prefer working with a large one, some prefer a small tablet. Ask friends, or walk into a store (I think apple stores usually have a bunch of sizes as demo units) and feel what you prefer. If you're new to tablets I would also advise against buying a good wacom.…
I was gonna say the same! :) Really nice work so far. Just a suggestion, but maybe play with the proportions a little so its a little more exaggerated (kinda like an Ogyrn), and feels more like it belongs in 40k?
@anura @BagelHero : Here is one with wire frame. This was class project and my instructor gave us pretty high limit for hero characters. (limit of 40K tris exclude weapon, base and hair) @JadeEyePanda : Thank you for your advise. I was thinking about that too. Skin is hard.....
I sort of hesitate to post this, but here we go. Anyways, I made a fake artstation account and conducted a test to get some numbers. First, as a baseline I'm taking numbers from a recent piece I did with my normal account. I have about 3000 artstation followers. When I post something, artstation sends out a variety of…
This is a video card driver problem. Update to the *latest* Nvidia driver release. The first generation drivers (v260.XX) for the 400 series GPUs had a bug that causes this glitch. http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-267.59-whql-driver.html Generic link if you aren't using Win7 64bit:…
My specs are anything. I have my own custom engine, custom specs. The texture is in 4096, the fallback is 2048. (Not worried about the memory footprint, just the texture bandwidth). I haven't put a spec/normal map yet. Like when you look at the first picture you don't see the panels with specular highlights I'm like "it…
400 USD is a good sum of money when you can eat out reasonably well for 2 USD per day. If you're paying around 2mil VND to rent a fairly reasonable place and living non-extravagantly, you'll end up with more than half your pay still left over at the end of the month. After two years, you're not going home poor, you'll have…
