It seems mysterious until you think about the more technical/mathematical side to 3d art. I image some people, especially hard-surface modelers or people interested in replicating real-world objects, enjoy finding how things are put together and accuracy. Of course that's just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
I'd use a standard cylinder unwrap for the curved surface of the cylinder and attach other parts to its sides. Then, straighten the sides by hand. Here's a mutant sketch I did today BTW Any C&C are more than welcome as always. EDIT: This is supposed to be the levitating/teleporting mutant but I wanted to start with a…
Nice portfolio as others have said, it looks really solid. You got some great hard surface stuff there, that tank is great and you've also taken all the way to finished product. Some more breakdown would be great like said, but your content is really good so good luck finding an internship!
1- Diffuse is way too cloudy. Tone down the contrast in the noisy pattern and add more real surface detail. 2-spec is a decent start, but nowhere near complete. Darken what you have down just a bit -- maybe 10-20 %, and start working scractches, edges, and bright details ontop of it twice as bright.
Pretty crazy when Takezo Kensei got shot by those arrows at the end...anyone else wonder if he's related to Claire? The toe chopping was pretty intense too. I'm glad this show didn't get cancelled like most of the shows I end-up lovin, like the show that was previously in Heros' spot, Surface.
yes, very nice work S-S. only the lack of a base/background really gives it away as not being real, you've done an impressive job of replicating the surface qualities of a kit model like that. though it reads more as porcelain almost rather than vinyl, it most definitely looks real. glad you shared it
For me it really depends on the intended use of the rock. my plan for my current distraction/project is to take some of the meshes I've made, put them together in ZB and repaint, then bring out as one and retopo. Model some smaller bits of rock/plants/whatever to add to the surface as needed while in UDK to hide the…
Sexy bake. The mesh/grid/grip surfaces are rather noisy though. If your posted image is the actual resolution, you may wanna tweak the detail density of those parts, and make the shapes a bit softer. In any case, make sure you keep contrast and noise in check when working on the final materials/textures.
EDIT: D'oh, beaten by the Ostrich. I don't think theres any great advantage to getting an Intuos 3 over a 2. The buttons on the side of the 3 are largely superfluous and I believe the surface stats are exactly the same for both. You should be able to get a good sized Intuos 2 far cheaper than a 3.
[ QUOTE ] So, it would be very plausable for me to pursue a film-related career. I'll have to look into such studios. Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] I had a wander around the Industrial Light & Magic creature shop a while ago. They have a completely seperate surfacing/texturing department from modeling. Strangely it was mostly girls…
