Awsome start. I would totally back up that you need more variation in your color pallet for vegetation. Instead of all greenish tones, mix it up and add some color. Unfortunately I have no idea about the shadows. unrealWiki it? Looking forward to seeing more !! -

Re: First time making Foliage
For foliage, overdraw is far more performance demanding than adding polygons. By all means, add polygons if you can reduce the empty areas on a polygon where there is no vegetation texture being drawn. Overlapping planes with alpha'd textures also increases overdraw, so keep that in consideration as well. -

Thanks! I know the latest updates didn't bring anything new in terms of visuals (and this is an art oriented forum) but the next video will show you a new vegetation set a friend has been working on (trees, plants, terrain textures). I will post it sometime during the next week. -

Vegetation textures look great. This scene reminds of Vashj'ir! I would pump in some more color and light into the scene by increasing saturation in the materials and getting more blue into the scene. And just for fun, if you're in Unity look into the Post-Processing Stack if you haven't already. But real nice! -
Re: Opacity Map help Please
Opacity gives accurate 0-100 opacity levels. Good for semi-transparent things. Gives a softer, smoother transition, but is more expensive. Mask reduces the alpha to 1-bit information. So it's either there or it isn't. This result is cheaper, but can appear more jagged if sloppy. Great for vegetation. -

I like your outside illumination. I think your scene is lacking in texture values, especially for the vegetation. Also those red spots don't read so well, if you want a lava aspect, try to add some orange in the corners and get more references man. -

@LeeM3d Alright man, here she is. I hand-painted all of the textures. The only thing I composited was the ground texture. I've never done vehicles before, glass, or vegetation. Most of this was all new territory to me, and I loved every second of it. Gave it my best! -

Gross little paintover here. Trying to figure out a way to add a little more foliage. Also thinking of adding a flag here in the middle with some large slogan that fits with the universe. "Vegetables are for the Elite" or some such. Also, in this image you can see the guy-wires I added.
