May have just sorted this out by re-exporting the model from Maya as another OBJ then importing it as a tool into Zbrush with the main document open? So OBJ's can hold UV's??? :s
What are the setting for obj export from Max into knald? Is there a button I missed to make preview window zoom out (or in) to entire object? I.E. possibly obj import too small or large?
OBJ export works from MoI to Modo ... does Rhino export to OBJ? Sure, you don't have CAD objects anymore but you can't really work with those in Modo anyway.
Well when all else fails apparently a good ole .obj exp/import will get it done. Still no clue why this is acting like this, but now the reimported obj file looks fine. Thanks again for the suggestion.
Make sure you have mesh normals on when exporting obj, not just smoothing groups. Also try FBX if obj isn't working out. Max can be a bit of a pain to find the right export settings.
I am uploading the models in OBJ format too, for the people who isn't 3ds max user can download it too. The next days I will upload the buildings and more new models in .max and .obj format
RazorBladder you can try this: import mesh to mudbox export to obj import to max or whatever you use smooth it and then you will see which polies need fixing export to obj import to mudbox always works
Sounds like an UV Problem. Did you check the UVs of the OBJ file? I use OBJ from XSI together with Zbrush and Zmapper without any problems. Did you try other configs for Zmapper?
Can a Max user take the following OBJ file and using all non-planar tools to which you have installed on your machine make the OBJ file completely non-planar. I want to understand how Max handles such a situation.
