the pie chart shows revenue percentage, not volume. Keep eye on steam survey for actual volume percentage in the field. performance wise likely will be another nice jump next year when the 16nm chips come out :) Am playing older games with downsampling (DSR), it's really nice what that does to older games, really shows how…
Someone used Cryengine 2 to render out their animation in realtime (or close, I think he was averaging at 14-16fps) Cinebox is another alternative, but last time I applied it was still in closed beta.
from in the project shelf, right click > export resource. it export by default in png 16bit. I got the same problem also with plain normal map, there is always this grainy effect.
There is a thread of that tutorial on polycount, it is pretty famous around here: http://polycount.com/discussion/92432/3dmotive-creating-foliage-for-udk/p1 I have done it myself and it really helps if you are completelly new to foliage. While most of the stuff in that tutorial is still aplicable, now that PBR has come to…
Weapon finish has been updated, now with more overall contrast and improved alpha channel. Also I discovered a thing about levels of the alpha for anodized multicolor (didn't tested other styles yet) style. Range for specular level actually goes all the way to 160, not 127 as guide on counter strike blog mentioned. Values…
Have you thought about unifying the characters under a colour tone? They are both very linear RGB, if you pushed it down a pastel tone it could help them bounce of each other. Its probably to early to tell until you get your scene together. But possibly food for thought when you come to polish. Looking forward to seeing…
Post your bake settings inside Blender, but my guess is your raycast is too shallow and it's causing those artifacts or that you're baking into 8bits instead of 16bits... Try baking with Cycles instead of the Blender Render too, see if that helps. You really don't have to use a cage for a model like this in my honest…
While it is true that scuffed and shiney plastic both have the same reflectance value... How accurate is our method of capturing the percentage value of light reflected? For instance, look at how much difference micro geometry has on the visual look of reflectivity on skin. Figure 1: (a) Rendering with scanned…
I'm currently working with a 1600 DPI, €10 mouse, and for normal modeling it's just dandy. But for sculpting you'll definitely want a tablet. You'll want to try a few different ones to see what you prefer. I personally prefer a cheap brand A4 over a small wacom, because it allows me to make large swooping strokes.
