This is "the beast" This is a first sketch i really like. It is painted on a computer, with 2B pencil in Corel painter. So i will texture and sculpt a model based on this drawing. i just graduated from Art Institute of Pittsburgh and i can tell you ive had classes with some people that cant draw shhhhhhh1t. but, can model characters pretty well, is it because its easier to move a vert or a poly than a pencil on paper i have no idea...but yea practice and drive is everything. -

It doesn't matter how you make the pictures - we have people scanning pencil drawings where I work and it's not a problem. However, Using 3d and getting stuff in game means you have a much better idea of what your work looks like from the player's perspective so you're more likely to turn out better work and you'd be… -

"Slightly-larger-than-a4" doesn't seem like much until you're jamming it into your shelf sideways because it won't fit upright :P But yeah if you've got the space or are willing to upgrade then go for it. Otherwise, in my opinion the extra fine pencil detail doesn't add a lot of educational value to the book so it'll serve… -

1) Yes. 2) Take foundational fine art courses, or observe what they go through at universities for said cirriculum. Still life drawing. Figure drawing. Design Foundations. Yeah, what the 4chan discussion is trying to get at is that it is very easy to get caught up in anatomy (as in, "this muscle insertion goes here") while forgetting how these discrete parts combine into a greater whole - which itself can be simplified/stylized. A common example would be the case of naive pencil drawings…
